Pray, or Become Easy Prey
Reality possesses a kind of inherent authority, an authority written into it by God for our good. It isn’t certain that all will be well for those who no longer recognize the truth of reality.
Nor is it reasonable to presume that the misled will allow for the healing of their use of reason, since such a reordering of the senses comes through prayer, and such people consider prayer to be unworthy of man. Still, prayer remains the only hope for the human person.
Thank God, then, there are as many ways to pray as there are people, and that God does not spurn a humble and contrite heart. Nor are Christians the only people whose prayers touch the heart of God.
Nevertheless, those who resist prayer, precisely because it is the subjection of our reason to an authority - even though that authority be illuminating and instructive - will never regain the right use of their reason.
Those who do not pray to God, become easy prey to the devil. +
