Love From Love
A friend reminded us this week that love, by its nature, desires to be given away, that love wants to keep nothing for itself, which is why the saints are so happy. This is the joy of the saints: they love.
This means that the demands of love that are all around us do not originate from the evils of the world, to be resented, as if the only reason that we need love is because we are fallen.
Rather, the ever-present human need for love is a sign of the enduring goodness of the world, formed by God Himself, love from Love, persevering in the midst of the ruins, making it possible for us to be happy. +
